Northern Society for Domestic Peace is offering a one-day training event to help facilitate the Strengthening Families Program.

Participants from Smithers, Moricetown and Houston are encouraged to attend. Registration is required.

The Strengthen Families Program is a successful family focused, culturally sensitive skills development program for families with children ages 6-11 and 12-16 years of age. The program combines cognitive behavioural and attachment strategies to strengthen the family climate, reduce childhood acting out and increase resilience to drugs and other harmful influences. We also supplement the latest alternative parenting tools and nutritional information.

In an evidence based program, with the following five year follow up results*, the participating families experienced:

  • 97% - More quality time spent.
  • 95% - Learned more appropriate consequences.
  • 94% - Increased enjoyment of the child.
  • 84% - Better problem solving with the child.
  • 75% - Reduced family stress and conflict.
  • 68% - Holding family monthly meetings.
  • 37% - Holding weekly family meetings.

This is a NO cost to attend. There are no prerequisites for training however to facilitate the workshop, a clean criminal record check will be required. We do ask that if you attend training, you will help facilitate at least one workshop. Note: This is not an official two-day certification course. You will receive a one-day casual training certificate for the program.
