Acknowledging Traditional Territories
The Northern Society for Domestic Peace is fortunate to be located in scenic Northwest BC and has offices in the communities of Smithers, Houston and Hazelton. These communities are located on distinct traditional territories, rich with resources, culture, and history of the Wet'Suwet'en and Gitxsan First Nations.
Wet'Suwet'en meaning the people of the Wa Dzun Kwuh (Bulkley River) and the Gitxsan, Git meaning "the people of" and xsan meaning "the River of Mist" (Skeena River).
We acknowledge and respectfully thank the Wet'Suwet'en and Gitxsan First Nations for allowing us to live, work and play on their lands. We also acknowledge and thank the ancestors, supernatural ones, hereditary leaders and matriarchs of these first peoples, creatures big and small for looking after the rich resources and cultural teachings of this beautiful land.
