Prevention of Violence Against Women Week
To recognize this year's Prevention of Violence Against Women Week (April 16th to 22nd) the Northern Society for Domestic Peace (NSDP) would like to recognize our local unsung heroes who have stepped up to intervene in violence against women.
If you are a woman who was experiencing violence (bullying, physical, sexual, emotional...) and a helpful person chose not to be a bystander and stepped up to help you, or if you know someone who stepped up to help a woman who was being victimized, or if you were the person who wasn't just a bystander and helped a woman when they needed it - NSDP would love to hear your story.
Please call the Northern Society for Domestic Peace (250-847-9000) and tell us what happened and how your hero helped you, or how you helped someone and as a thank you for standing up in the fight to protect women's safety we will enter that hero for a chance to win a hundred dollar gift certificate of the hero's choosing .
If you don't know the name of your hero tell us your story anyway and we will try to help reconnect you with the person who helped you.
Some hero stories may be published anonymously in local media or NSDP materials to highlight the positive impact of bystander intervention.
To submit your hero: call or visit NSDP in April. NSDP will announce the draw winner in early May.
